The new iPad wast released yesterday amongst much fanfare and surprisingly, that is just what it will be referred to. The “New iPad” and not as “iPad 3” as it was widely speculated.

To be honest this has really thrown the team at ipad3specs, as everybody expected it to be called either the iPad 2HD, iPad 3, iPad HD, but it seems Apples marketing department has switched up the naming convention. In a way it makes scene, as the imac isn’t called the imac 5, so it seems Apple are taking this same arroach to its new lineup?

Will this mean the iPhone 5 will no longer be called that as many are thinking? or will it also be the “New iPhone, only time will tell.

The new iPad is really the first Apple device to incorporate the LTE, and this most certainly confirms that the next iPhone too will have LTE. Apple talked up the benefits of the LTE network during the release of the new iPad.
• The new iPad does not have a true quad-core processor. Apple, however, did say the chip is four times faster than Nvidia’s Tegra 3 quad-core chip which just hit the market a little earlier.
• The new iPad’s battery life remains consistent at 10 hours, although it was seen dipping to 9 hours with 4G. These are very impressive figures when considering that 4G LTE has been a huge drain on batteries in most other devices.
• Apple has also furnished the iPad with new apps, and these include updates to iMovie and GarageBand, which respectively now have the ability to create trailers and collaborative music creation. Quite a lot of time has been devoted to the launch of iPhoto for the new iPad which boasts an impressive array of photo-editing capabilities.

Apple CEO Tim Cook promoted the new iPad’s features in a widely covered press conference, touting its HD display, 5-megapixel camera and 4G LTE capabilities as revolutionary upgrades to Apple’s flagship tablet. The big question is whether or not it makes sense to upgrade from an earlier iPad model. iPad 2 owners might not want to upgrade right away, as there are a limited number of differences between the iPad 2 and the new iPad. The HD display of the new iPad is the best reason for an upgrade.

iPad 2 owners who enjoy watching movies and reading books on their iPads will love the enhanced clarity of the new device, but the 4G capabilities of the device will only appeal to power users who frequently use their iPads for mobile browsing.

In today’s March 7 press conference, Apple announced  the New iPad Release  to its many Fans, this new iPad will support Verizon and AT&T’s 4G data networks.

This isn’t a surprise–analysts speculated about 4G support for months, and in order to compete with a growing number of Android tablets, Apple needed to upgrade the new iPad’s connectivity features significantly.

However, iPad fans will appreciate the significant speed boost. The original iPad and iPad 2 could access 3G networks, but LTE networks can be up to 10 times faster. iPhone 4G LTE speeds reach about 5.17 Mbps, and we expect iPad 4G LTE speeds to be about the same.

Of course, accessing 4G networks will require a separate data plan. Both Verizon and AT&T offer tiered pricing plans for new iPad users. AT&T offers the cheapest option, but Verizon offers the largest data plan for power users. Here’s a quick breakdown of the costs from each provider:

There is currently no information about coverage charges. Both AT&T and Verizon will offer month-to-month pricing plans, so new iPad owners will be able to keep their data charges under control and cancel their 4G connectivity when necessary. AT&T and Verizon have priced their 4G LTE plans quite reasonably, and the month-to-month options should allow iPad owners to experiment to find an appropriate data plan.

The “New iPad 4g” will also support Apple TV, although early adopters will quickly exhaust their data plans by using the feature on a 4G network. Even so, Apple TV will look fantastic on the Retina display of the new iPad, which can display a stunning 3.1 million pixels at a time.

Apple has always preferred simplicity, and calling the new tablet “iPad” rather than “iPad 3″ or “iPad HD” will help the tech giant stay on top of the market by making it easy for consumers to remember the name of its flagship product.
